I'm especially interested in imagining and creating something more for groups of individuals to have better places to thrive.

The nature of the workplace is changing before our eyes, and I love working with visionary clients who are imagining better futures. I bring 30 years of interior design experience to my role as a principal and workplace sector leader at Kasian. Sharing my experience is core to my practice at work and in the design community: besides mentoring my team’s junior members, I have served and am past President of Interior Designers of Canada, past President of the Interior Designers Institute of British Columbia, and part of the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s interior design program advisory committee. I’m especially proud of the work our team has accomplished on the Metro Vancouver corporate offices, three different bcIMC locations, and a standing offer with BC Hydro for their province-wide corporate offices and field operations facilities. Recently, I was inducted into the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) College of Fellows.

My other interests include travel, art, fashion, gardening, painting and visiting the Okanagan’s world-class wineries.

What is your area of focus in your design practice?

“I’ve designed for hospitality healthcare in the past, and mostly design for the workplace now. I’m especially interested in commercial projects, imagining and creating something more for the public, for the community, for groups of individuals to have better places to thrive. Creating something significant for the greater whole is important — for example, with our healthcare projects we made spaces better not only for patients, but also for families, doctors and other healthcare professionals.”

How do you approach the service element of interior design?

“When I’m working with a client, it’s not my design — it’s their design. My goal is to impart my knowledge and experience to guide my client toward the best possible solution for their needs.”
