OVERVIEW
Designing the healing journey
As Canadians, we identify with and value our publicly funded healthcare system more than anything else — yes… even more than hockey. So when we design healthcare facilities, we have a moral responsibility to get it right: for our clinicians, administrators, patients and communities.
The pressure is on and the stakes are high, and we don’t take this responsibility lightly. To achieve these high standards, we engage all users from patients, their families, the clinicians, the support staff, and the first responders to the neighbours, the indigenous community, the municipality and beyond.
We understand that to succeed, we must work together to find the right balance between efficiency, effectiveness, and safety on the one hand, and healing, nurturing and therapeutic spaces on the other.
To do so takes much more than technical expertise. It also takes mindfulness, compassion, and empathy. Be it large, green field projects such as the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre in Vancouver or the new Stanton Hospital in Yellowknife, the earlier master planning and business case stages of design for QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax or Shaver Hotel Dieu Rehabilitation Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario, our work exemplifies a philosophy of collaboration and engagement.
If you truly want to improve patient outcomes, collaborate with us to ensure that the design of your next healthcare facility proudly aligns with the broader values of all Canadians.
