As Canadians, we identify with and value our publicly funded healthcare system more than anything else — yes… even more than hockey. So when we design healthcare facilities, we have a moral responsibility to get it right: for our clinicians, administrators, patients and communities.

The pressure is on and the stakes are high, and we don’t take this responsibility lightly. To achieve these high standards, we engage all users from patients, their families, the clinicians, the support staff, and the first responders to the neighbours, the indigenous community, the municipality and beyond.

We understand that to succeed, we must work together to find the right balance between efficiency, effectiveness, and safety on the one hand, and healing, nurturing and therapeutic spaces on the other.

To do so takes much more than technical expertise. It also takes mindfulness, compassion, and empathy.
