A great design gives and receives.

With over 20 years of experience working in the institutional non-profit sector, I understand the potential of place to influence health outcomes and community vibrancy. As a facilitator, I keenly focus on building trust and open communication in the engagement aspect of everything we do. I lead integrated, collaborative design and planning teams in delivering complex continuing care, mental health, ambulatory care, and rehabilitation projects.

We stay focused on project clarity and centering the human experience in the design of inspired environments. My notable recent projects include West Park Healthcare Centre, Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, Women’s College Hospital, and the Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Centre redevelopment. I’m also an artist, Reiki Master, and member of the writer’s group, The Vicious Circle.

My Sectors: Healthcare.

My Services: Architecture, Facilities Planning, Lifescape, Master Planning & Urban Design, Planning, Design & Conformance (PDC).

We Asked, Deborah Wadsworth Answered:

What drew you to architecture?

“My undergrad was in pharmacology, but it didn’t excite me the way I thought it would. I realized that I needed a career with more creativity and exuberance. Also, I grew up in a town that had no pride of place, but plenty of potential. I asked myself, “How would I make it great?” That idea had planted the seed, and it has since grown.”

How would you describe your leadership style?

“I connect with my team on a personal level, understanding their beliefs and values, their creativity and thought processes. I trust in people a lot—I feel valued when someone gives me responsibility and lets me do my thing, and so I honor my peers and colleagues by giving that back.”
